Keep Going: Batoul Arnaout’s Story

There was never a point in Batoul Arnaout’s life when she wasn’t playing sports. After an injury forced her away from contact sports, she rediscovered herself on the bicycle. Often the only female rider on the streets, Batoul dedicated herself to creating a path for other girls and women to follow.

Philippines Disaster Relief with Geraldine Bernardo

Geraldine Bernardo uses sport to bring healing to communities that have been devastated by natural disaster. In November 2013, Tacloban was hit by the worst typhoon in recorded history, which cost the small island village an estimated 20,000 lives. Partnering with different relief organizations, Geraldine created a symposium entitled “Replay, Relive, Renew” that teaches coaches and administrators different uses for sport, specifically for psycho-social healing.

She Believes: Dima Alardah’s Story

At one point in her life, Dima Alardah dreamed of becoming an Olympic badminton champion. Years after retiring from competition, Dima now dreams of restoring hope to women and girls all across the Arab world. Dima joined the Norwegian Refugee Council to provide sports programs to Syrian refugees living in camps throughout Jordan.

In Rosario, Argentina, Luz Amuchastegui has been working to restore the lives of children in shantytown communities affected by rampant poverty, violence and social exclusion. Luz left behind a career at General Motors to address the issues others in Rosario refuse to address by providing those in the most at-risk communities with the tools to change the future for themselves and their families.
